MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to provide home security cameras to seniors living alone or away from family. Basic home security cameras are readily available, affordable, easy to install, & easy to use. However, many seniors may not know where & how to purchase one or how to set up a home security camera.
We are here to help.

Deter Crime

The mere presence of cameras may be a deterrant to crime. Video evidence may also help law enforcment with solving crime and keeping neighborhoods safer.

Connect

The ability to check on a family member who lives alone or far away, is a great benefit of home security cameras. Share camera footage only with trusted family members.

Peace of Mind

Remote home monitoring provides peace of mind when away from home. Motion alerts can be set up to detect trespassers.

ABOUT US

ACTS for safety is a volunteer organization established in 2021 by a high school senior in San Francisco. ACTS for safety was created to provide a way of always connecting to seniors to keep them safer.

The pandemic has affected our senior community greatly, from social distancing to shutdowns. Sadly, crime against vulnerable seniors has been rising as well. These factors have significantly increased the sense of isolation and fear within our senior community.

TECH SUPPORT

Distribution

Eligible seniors will recieve at least 1 web camera, depending on available supply of donated products.

Set Up

We will work to provide virtual tech support for initial product setup/installation. More detailed information will be provided to participants. When safe to do so, tech support will be moved to live in person instruction.

Maintenence

Contact product manufacturer for additional maintenace and warranty information.

Cameras

Home security cameras help us feel safer, provide peace of mind, and potentially deter crime. However, it is of vital importance to keep the system completely secure. Account information should not be shared.

Qualifications

Seniors living alone or far away from family

Seniors on low/fixed income or with financial needs

Must have secure wifi connection at home

Not public access wifi

Must have mobile device

Andriod or IOS

FUNDING

The pilot program is funded by generous donations from family and friends.

We welcome and appreciate donations from the public, as well as home security camera manufacturers & companies.

Every dollar will be spent on acquisition of cameras which will be distributed to eligible seniors.

We hope to establish partnerships with other community organizations in order to widen our outreach and accomodate all seniors in need.
